Freelance UX Design + Front End Development

Oct 2020 - Present

  • Worked with the London based restaurant delivery start-up, Finish and Feast, to develop their e-commerce website. Rebuilding their website I was able to improve the user experience while enhancing their back end order management system.
  • Collaborated with Pale Green Dot, a fresh produce supplier, to design and develop an e-commerce subscription site for Cook School, a not-for-profit company delivering children’s recipe boxes.

JIG Collective / Isle Martin Tidal Energy Center

Dec 2018 - Jun 2019

Co-founder / Designer

  • Co-founded an 8-person collective to challenge the norm of small group teaching in architecture, writing our own design brief, producing individual building designs part of a collaborative master-plan.
  • Designed an efficient tidal turbine maintenance center, using technical restrictions and construction details to drive design, as part of a theoretical master-plan to reduce ‘brain drain’ in a rural Scottish island community.
  • Hosted multiple exhibitions and consultations within the community, gaining user input, while demonstrating the effectiveness of developing Isle Martin in offering future education and employment opportunities for the youth of the highlands.

  • Led six weeks of Arduino and Grasshopper workshops for 3rd year architecture students, teaching Arduino basics and it’s usability within an innovative design environment.

Part 1 Architectural Assistant

  • Rebuilt the company’s website, improving the user experience and increasing the conversion rate of website visitors to clients.
  • Design lead on residential and competition projects, producing required visual and technical documentation to obtain planning permission, consulting with senior architects and clients when necessary.
  • Assisted project architects with the management of live construction projects, delivering these on time by communicating with and coordinating multiple contractors simultaneously.

Haptic Vision

Designer

  • Ideated and rapidly prototyped a variety of technologies to collect and process data from the urban fabric of Edinburgh. Iterating these prototypes, data was mapped in digital space and interacted with by users using motion capture and haptic touch technologies.
  • Identified a potential end user, iterating these technologies to investigate their potential in helping blind people experience large scale architecture.
  • Prototyped an innovative method of scanning, rescaling and experiencing monolithic architecture through motion tracked haptic touch, using Arduino, VR and 3D printing technologies.
